Newport, R.I.

In my previous blog, I only focused on writing about my International travels although I spend a lot of time hopping around the great USA. To me, International travel is the epitome of adventure, yet I still find myself boasting about the amazing places in my home country. This leads  me to introduce this first official travel post on my new blog – a feature on Newport, R.I. from my first visit to the island over Memorial Day Weekend. The first thing you may ask: you have been living on the East Coast for three years and you only just now visited Newport? Again – attention to my heavy focus on international travel, so this is a bit of reverse “expanding your horizons” for me. Two thoughts had always come to mind when thinking about traveling to Newport; Without my own means of transportation (car), wouldn’t it be easier for me to fly out of the country than finding my way to an island in the North East? Defining Moments; Learning to Fly

I was recently involved in a discussion around how to continuously build your social well-being and keep refreshed when there are stressors coming at you from every angle. I’ve always had one defining moment in …

Capturing a New Perspective

We have all seen it, the photograph that signifies “I’m going somewhere else; be jealous.” Yes, you know what I’m  talking about: the picture taken out of an airplane window. It doesn’t vary much in terms of its typical composition – you have the window frame (the window not always being crystal clear), and there is a 70% chance a wing will be in it. It may show  clouds, occasionally a sunset, sometimes an airport. Most people tend to place this photo in the “bragging” or “trendy” bucket and post it as the obligatory “I’m leaving town” photo. Being an avid traveler, I was starting to get sick of pictures like that, but then I noticed that although I’m not generally posting this type of picture to my social media accounts, I was still taking the photo. On a recent flight I was taking snaps out the window and started to reflect on why I (and many others) take this picture. What is the greater significance of it? I came to a few conclusions. First of all …
